Johsuan Garcia-Farinas - Complete Reflection on Presentations #1

Group 1
Groups 1 presentation was about the fundamentals of public speaking which include the
evolving art of public speaking, building you're confidence, developing your purpose/t
opic, and adapting to your audience. Group 1 was presented by David, Dario, Dylan, Ari
el, Vincente, Fabio, and William. These men did good, they presented the information i
n a way that the audience could understand, there were also the Ted talk video and the
Art of listening being the second video was appropriate for the presentation. There wa
s good eye contact for the majority of the time alongside a good tonality, despite the
microphone being off. There was also the body language which was good the majority of
the time, being the first presentation, there was bound to be some nervousness going
into the presentation. That with being the first group to present gave them no referen
ce point to go off of. There was also some really good performances, two coming immedi
ately to mind, those being William and Dario. William was excellent in presenting the
info to the audience, that combined with his ability to look at the entirely of the au
dience made you feel like you were having a direct conversation with the guy, which is
one of the core fundamentals of public speaking. There was also Dario with his refrenc
es to Aristotle and his explanation of life skills. Again it felt like I was having a
conversation with Dario which is what you aim to do constantly in public speaking.
Overall group 1s presentation had its up and downs, being the first group they had no
other group to go off bit still did well despite the circumstances they faced.
Group 2
Group 2’s presentation on how to make and present a good speech informative and engagi
ng. There presentation included chapters 5, 6, 7, and 8. Everybody's information was o
n topic while being informative and entertaining to listen to. The book mentions that
a strong presentation requires preparation, structure, research, and delivery which Ma
nuel did by speaking with a loud, clear voice and giving comparisons, like using Naple
s Italy to make a point about researching you're topic. There was also his confident b
ody language helped his points land better with the audience. Nancy told the audience
about well-designed slides, making sure there uncluttered and easy to follow while hav
ing solid information that's relevant to the speech. Melissa stood out mainly for her
strong voice and comparisons, most notable being Huckleberry Finn. Marcelo's most nota
ble moments was that of his hand gestures with slides that were clean and centered. Fr
ancisco gave eye contact that made me feel like I was having a one on one discussion w
ith him, that and the solid explanation of the different types of speeches, added dept
h to the group’s overall message. Yovani was definitely notable for his ice cream anal
ogy making his information memorable and funny showing that speeches don't have to be
serious, speeches that incorporate humor make the audience more attentive. Mathias had
a clear voice adn used notes while he was presenting, which gave him an air of authori
ty and trust, making me feel like he was well informed about the topic he was presenti
ng. Honestly, group 2s presentation was solid, showing that good speeches aren't just
about the information delivered, but about how there delivered. By using a strong voic
es, uncluttered visuals, effective analogies, and engaging the audience, Overall the g
roup showed how to create a presentation worth listening to.
Group 3
Group 3’s presentation, covering chapters 9 through 12, gave breakdown on pulling off a
successful speech by focusing on content and delivery. Roxanne, as the class leader, opened u
p the group as she did with the other groups, setting the stage for the presentation. Diego p
resented chapter 9, delivering solid information with slides that were simple and easy to rea
d, showing that keeping visuals clean helps the audience focus on the speaker. Paola talked a
bout chapter 10, giving strong information while keeping the sides decluttered and simple, th
ough her limited eye contact is something that needs to be worked on. Chapter 11, was present
ed by Chelsea and Ruby. Both group members balanced the section with confident body language
and an engaging style, staying centered in the information despite it being presented by 2
different people. Chapter 12, handled by Sara and Gabriella, talked about the importance of e
ye contact, voice tonality, and practice. Both provided solid information, with Saras strong
delivery by looking at the audience, and Gabriella's ability to not rely on the board for in
formation regarding the presentation. The last group member, Joshua closed the presentation w
ith a well-structured conclusion that tied all the points together. Overall, Group 3 emphasiz
ed that clarity, practice, and confidence are the keys to making speeches both professional
and memorable. Its important to remember that audiences remember what they hear first and las
t, effective speeches balance language, media, tonality, and body language.
Group 4

Group 4’s presentation on “Speaking Situations” was on the different types of speeches alongs

ide effective ways to present them. There chapters were on 13, 14, 15, and 16. One immediea

tly notable aspect of the presentation was the dress code which added so added professionalis

m and lead to a more memorable and effective delivery. Nathalie, presented chapter 13, and im

medietly set a high standard with confident body language, loud and clear voice, and strong d

escriptions of speech patterns and guidelines. Honestly I couldn't find any noticeable negati

ves, as an opener, she was excellent. Michael, offered solid information and uncluttered sli

des. Mia, showed strong body language and a clear voice, using notecards to deliver her messa

ge to remember information at critical moments was a smart decision. Sahahra, had good slide

talking clear to the audience. Emelin had a clear voice and good body language, that and her

YouTube video made it easier to grasp and understand the information she was presenting for c

hapter 15. Yandel had a clear, loud voice and emphasized the importance of preparing for the

audience, which complimented the groups message. Stephanie wrapped things up with solid infor

mation on different types of speeches, good body language, and minimal reliance on her slides
